Facilities

The best moments usually occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile. The optimal experience is thus something that we make happen.

– Dr. Seuss

Pebble Creek Life School offers a large well-stocked library that is always abuzz with children. The library is well equipped, with more than 5000 books related to all the subjects and classes, which also includes encyclopaedias for research, literature for fiction and non-fiction, poetry, reference books among others. The Library also has subscriptions to a variety of magazines for a wide range of readers and also has a Newspaper Section for daily news. Pebble Creek ensures that besides English, the library has an exciting array of books in Telugu and Hindi to offer them an exposure to diverse literature and languages.

The Library is made available to be utilised by all members of the school – students, teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. It provides easy access to all available resources to enhance knowledge for all the users. Our goal is to encourage students to come, read and experience the vast and wonderful world beyond the school, through books.

Co-Curriculars

The aim of co-curriculars at Pebble Creek is to not just connect children to sports, art and culture through meaningful exposure, engagement and training but to also offer them skills that they can put to use throughout their life. For primary and elementary students, the co-curriculars are offered as a part of their study cycle. For middle and secondary school, co-curricular classes are scheduled as periods in their time table through CCA (Co-curricular Activity) classes or Special Interest Clubs.

Pottery, Carpentry & Wood Carving

The creative expression at Pebble Creek is guided by the idea of meaningful work; what we create must be of use to self and to the society. Art forms like Pottery and Carpentry and other clubs offer skills that can be used lifelong. Working on building these skills help children to be socially sensitive and also support the revival of these art forms along with respect for people who earn their livelihoods using these skills.

Special Interest Clubs

Special Interest Clubs at Pebble Creek are offered to students of middle and secondary school (Grades 7 to 10). At the beginning of the academic year, children opt for one club and stay committed to that for the whole year. Initially they build intentions about what they would like to explore and plan along with their Club In-charges what they would like to achieve. Towards the end of the year the students of various clubs present their learnings or products, during the Club Culmination event.

Theatre Club

The Theatre Club is a platform for de-inhibition and creative expression. Each year the club creates an Annual Production that they present in school, which may also extend to a creative public space.

Music Club

The club focuses on inviting all children with an interest or inclination towards music. Anyone who either can play a musical instrument or is inclined towards singing can choose to be a part of the club. Also, children who want to learn a musical instrument will get an opportunity to pursue their interest.

Football Club

Football Club is where all the children from the school’s middle and secondary school interested in football get to train themselves with the help of the coach. They work hard on their football skills, fitness and attitude. The focus of playing football is not only winning tournaments but also to build a healthy mind and a wonderful attitude towards competition.

Basketball Club
Basketball Club is another special interest club in which students get coached in basketball skills, fitness and develop a healthy spirit of sportsmanship. Like football, the purpose of engaging with basketball is not to just win matches but to develop a sense of excellence, team spirit and to build life skills that help cope with victories and losses in a healthy manner.
Home Science Club
Home Science Club is for those children who would love to explore handiwork of various kinds – stitching, knitting, crocheting, weaving and embroidery. Students not just develop an eye for aesthetics, they also learn fine motor skills and create an array of products throughout the year. The Home Science Club also breaks several gender barriers and stereotypes where the skills learned in the club were traditionally assumed to be women’s work for the household. When one witnesses children enrolling in the club simply because they’d love to do it, irrespective of their gender, it creates space for much deeper learning besides learning a lovely and useful life skill.
Nature Club
Nature Club is for those nature enthusiasts who would like to connect with nature in a much deeper way. The club involves observing nature within the school campus and at times exploring nature outside the school campus. From bird-watching to worm observing, from maintaining a club garden to observing plants with the change of seasons, from doing nature based art to creating nature based social campaigns, from reading books and watching documentaries on nature to capturing elements of nature through photographs – the nature club has an array of exploratory activities that children engage with. The idea is to explore our own selves by connecting with nature in a sensitive and scientific manner.
Cooking Club
Cooking Club is not just about cooking and eating delicious food, but through this club one embarks on an anthropological and personal journey with food. From learning culinary skills – choosing the right ingredients, chopping, dicing, plating, recipe reading and cooking, to exploring food cultures across the world, understanding nutrition and healthy food practices, the cooking club is truly a life skills masterclass.
Public Speaking and Self Expression Club
This club focuses on oral communication and verbal self expression. The goal of the engagement is to build speaking skills in children. The work starts with de-inhibition, confidence building, content building and writing to be able to frame effective communication. The club also works on body language and anxiety management for children who have fear of speaking at public spaces and platforms.
Pottery and Clay Modelling Club
Pottery Club is for children who would like to explore how to work with clay and love to work on a potter’s wheel. Throughout the year, students learn to make various clay products and understand the process well. For many it is also a calming and meditative space kneading and shaping the clay to create artwork that speaks to them.
Carpentry Club
While children of Pebble Creek engage with carpentry as early as in their elementary years, the students of Carpentry Club focus on building wood-based products. While they hone their carpentry skills over time from chiselling, sawing, nailing, carving amongst others, the students also learn the essential life skills of patience, precision and self-management as they deal with their tools, designs and products.
