PM-Maths Workshop

Primary Montessori conducted a Mathematics workshop on 7th February. Year 3 children were well prepared to present various Montessori math materials to their parents. The session began with the Hierarchy material, where children demonstrated quantity using bead material along with number cards, forming a strong foundation for understanding numbers. Once this concept was clear, children showcased the four operations—Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division—using four-digit quantities. Traditional number names from 11 to 99 were then introduced. The children further demonstrated the four operations using different materials, explaining how concrete learning gradually leads to abstraction. Fractions were also introduced, including family names and the method of addition. Parents were amazed and pleasantly surprised by the children’s confidence and clarity during the presentations. This workshop beautifully reflected how children learn and remember concepts through hands-on materials with active minds at work.
