Why Pebble Creek
The best moments usually occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile. The optimal experience is thus something that we make happen.
Flow Theory (Mihly Csikszentmihly)
At Pebble Creek we believe in giving our children true choice and real opportunities to experiment, explore, adapt and apply. Our learning-teaching methodology is founded on Montessori Philosophy and Experiential Education; the primary and elementary years being a mixed group ecosystem in which younger children get a chance to learn from older students, while older ones get a chance to role-model. The transition from elementary to secondary school is carefully planned and executed for the students to get well-adjusted to a formal academic structure.
Our adults in the environments and teachers in the classrooms are passionate, qualified and trained individuals, and come from all over the country with a myriad of experiences like social work, mass media, book-publishing, banking, engineering, performance arts, and outdoor education, to name a few. The exposure to diversity and the interaction within the school environment allows our children to build perspectives about different walks of life, and pose meaningful questions about what goes on around them – from sighting a butterfly and understanding school policies, to events that affect the larger community.
Most of our projects, activities and events in school are student-led, be it deciding the theme, planning or execution, and are guided by the core values of safety, love, nurturing humanitarian values and excellence.
When we observe a child in flow, we simply get out of the way and let them experience the joy of accomplishing their personal excellence in that moment!
