Our Journey
The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist.”
Dr. Maria Montessori
Pebble Creek derives its meaning from the relationship shared between a flowing stream of water and its shore – the interdependence. The water flows through the uneven and curved paths set by the shore, the water is contained within the boundaries of the shore and the stream thins or widens depending on its force. The process rounds off parts of the shore into smooth pebbles.
The stream of water is the ‘flow of knowledge’, and pebbles are ‘the people and children’ that are touched by its natural flow and natural force. This process of erosion not only changes the course of the stream but also changes its boundaries. They both act on each other continuously and change each other endlessly. The rounded pebbles are the change agents of the society who are needed by all of us. Being with these people feels the same as when one touches or holds a pebble – a sense of comfort, joy and awe for creation.
Pebble Creek, founded on 24 May 2005, was set up in a rented bunglow in Sainikpuri, the small set up with 5 children within no time gained immense popularity because of our practice that was deeply rooted in Montessori Philosophy of education. The prepared environment ‘The Casa’ was brimming with children’s activities and parent engagement. When a parent asked, “what next after this beautiful journey?” , this made us think, and eventually establish Pebble Creek High Montessori School, in 2008 at Dr A S Rao Nagar. We spent joyful years there until we began to feel the space constraint. In 2012, Pebble Creek Life School was set up at Thumukunta, to meet the growing needs of our children. Today both branches at Dr A S Rao Nagar and Thumukunta are running successfully without letting go of our core – The Montessori Philosophy.
Pebble Creek’s logo, originally designed by Ms. Ghazia Jalal (www.ghaziajalal.com), depicts the child as the most important being in our world. This world is made up of three key components – land , water and the atmosphere. This continues to be our Logo for Pebble Creek High Montessori School, till date.
As we moved ahead in our journey and conceptualized Pebble Creek Life School, we felt the need to redesign our logo. We could not let go off the original logo, so we added more details. We are grateful to Anand Krishnan, Somak Chowdhary and entire team of SunnySideUp ( https://sunnysideup.in) who worked on our logo as passionately as we dreamt about the school, we realized along the way that it was pure admiration for each other’s work that made working together a joyful experience.
